The thesis which chooses Lanzhou's “Nanguan ethnic flavor Street” as the "field point",the locals call this street “traditional Street”.Is the reason why Traditional Street was crowned by the adjective "Traditional" ? its long history or the "modern street" on its opposite? In fact, the objective "traditional" of the Traditional Street not only has natives' cultural sentiment, cultural identity, and regional sense of belonging outwardly, but also carries the cultural appeal, the cultural continuation and the cultural consciousness of this traditional street in the modern development of Lanzhou. Moreover, with the advancement of urbanization,Traditional Street has become a carrier and symbol of traditional culture, and has been created as a unique cultural capital even in a new round of urban modernization.Accordingly, the Traditional Street has kept fresh through long history rather than being "old",let alone been reborn in the combination of tradition and modernity. The writer use methods such as participant observation, interviews, and historical literature analysis, starts from the perspective of ethnology, combines the relevant theories and methods of anthropology and sociology, and regards Traditional Street as a global cultural phenomenon tries to reveal the complex relationship between global culture and local traditions by showing the past and present. At the same time explores how the "night-market" based on the local tradition can integrate with local culture so that it can be recognized by the locals. Finally,it is believed that the transformation from the Traditional Street into an "ethnic night-market" did not happen by accident. From the history of the Traditional Street,it is found that the Traditional Street is constantly "renewed" in the changing times.Consequently, the Traditional Street produces a variety of cultural spaces, which is also the “established capital” of the Traditional Street.During the transformation of Lanzhou, the Traditional Street has followed the trend to create an “ethnic night-market” with local characteristics, which has achieved the mutual integration of local culture and global culture, and a win-win situation of economy and culture.Through the case study of the Traditional Street, the writer believes that as the urbanization is a necessary way to modernization, residents of the Traditional Street must confront the "sharp pain" of cultural tradition to modernization in this process. However, the Traditional Street can get reborn through this "sharp pain",and the tradition of the Traditional Street can also be developed only in this modernization. In addition, many cities will inevitably face the transformation of the "traditional-tomodern" socio-economic structure in their process of modernization. This case provides us a development pattern in which a city facing modernization should developed innovatively based on its local condition and people as well as their cultural situation, and must avoid simple imitation, copying and pasting, and mass parody.
