Since the founding of Federal Government of the United States,Indian policy of federal government has undergone changes and which has profound impact on the development of Indians.Until the 1960 s,Indian policy has increased its attention to Indian self-determination under new historical conditions and social background.During the president Nixon administration,he made it clear that Indian policy's aim was Indian self-determination.After then,federal government produced some quite constructive bills,which promoted development of Indians self-determination.This article through to concrete research on the Indian policy of federal government during Nixon administration,which deeply analyzes the background and implementation effect of the Indian policy,and its influence to the Indians.The study of this article holds although the influence of Indian policy of the federal government during Nixon administration was limited to a few Indians and tribes,these policies still effectively promoted the development of Indian self-determination,which indicating the Indian policy was developing in favor of the Indians.The intricate relationship has a long history between Indians and the federal government,and both sides need to make efforts to thoroughly solve the historical legacy problem.
