Under the background of curriculum reform, people pay more and more attention to the cultivation of scientific literacy. The study of scientific concepts is the basis for cultivating scientific literacy. Therefore,it is a hot topic in teaching and teaching research to understand the grasp of students’ scientific concepts, whether students have misconceptions and to transform the misconceptions of students.Organic chemistry is an important part of high school chemistry knowledge.Due to the variety of organic chemicals, diverse and complex structure, abstract reaction mechanisms and various types of reactions, there are many concepts involved in organic chemistry. In order to really understand the situation that the students learn concepts of organic chemistry, the author has explored the misconception in organic chemistry. The results are as follows.(1)After students have learned organic chemistry, there are still existing misconceptions such as structural simplicity, benzene homologues, hydrocarbon derivatives, spatial configuration, fat hydrocarbon,oxidation/addition reaction, and cis-trans isomerization, other concepts is relatively few, such as aromatic hydrocarbon, functional group isomerism,homologue.(2)It is found that there is a significant difference between the experimental classes and the common classes in the understanding of concepts. The students in the experimental class are better understanding of the concept of organic chemistry than those of the ordinary class.Secondly, there is no significant difference between men and women in the understanding of the concept of organic chemistry.(3)The main reasons for the misconceptions of organic chemistry are as follows.First,The complexity and abstractness of organic chemistry concepts.Second, reasons for teachers.Third, the link between compulsory and elective.Forth, personal factors of students. In addition,on the basis of investigation, this paper puts forward some teaching suggestions to promote the transformation of misconceptions in organic chemical for senior three students.
