The Research On Journalism Education In Chinese Christian University(1921-1952)

The universities in China started from the Christian University,and the journalism education in China also started from the Christian University.The Christian schools,including the Christian University,first appeared as tools for Western missionaries.Although the Christian University still cannot escape the suspicion of "imperialist invasion of China",dismissing political significance,the Christian University is absolutely regarded as the pioneer of modern education in China.The Department of Journalism as one of the most prominent departments of the Christian University,also has a prominent position in the history of modern Chinese journalism education and the history of world journalism education.This article is based on the context of the development of journalism education in modern universities,and it is divided into five chapters:The first chapter is the origin of the news education of Christian universities.The second chapter introduces the birth of journalism education in the Christian University.The third chapter summarizes the turn of Chinese journalism education as a part of western culture in China.The fourth chapter examines the impact of the war disaster on the journalism education of the Christian University.The last chapter has sublimated the full text and summarized the influence of the Christian University.This article reviews the development of the department of journalism in Yenching University,St.John's University,and the University of Shanghai,and seeks to integrate the development of journalism education in the Christian University,in order to get a glimpse of the development of Chinese journalism education in modern society.This article mainly discusses the active role of Christian universities in Chinese journalism education.It does not defend the role of Christian universities in China's modern society.It only uses the "modernization" paradigm to explore the historical research of Christian universities' journalism education.The Christian University not only took the lead in introducing Western advanced journalism education models to China,but also trained a group of journalists who supported China's newspaper industry and intellectuals with a solid Western knowledge.It has a very important impetus to the development of Chinese journalism and society.Compared with the influence of the journalism education of Christian University in modern society,the influence of China's journalism education on the world today is minimal.The road to revitalization of China's journalism education is inevitably not a matter of self-styled and closed-door construction.Under the background of globalization,China's journalism education may wish to learn from the model of journalism education in Christian University and communicate with the department of journalism in developed countries,the rekindle China's journalism education with world influence.
