Teachers' professional identity means teachers' perception,understanding and evaluation on their careers,which plays a significant role in the professional development of chemistry teachers from senior high school.At present,there are few studies focusing on the professional identity of chemistry teachers from high school.Meanwhile,there are great differences in politics,economy,and culture in different regions of China.Therefore,it is meaningful to compare the professional identity of chemistry teachers from senior high school with urban and rural backgrounds,which not only supplies the research on professional identity of chemistry teachers from senior high school,but also provides the advice for professional identity from senior high school,and promotes educational development reform of chemistry teachers from senior high school.This study conducted a questionnaire survey on chemistry teachers from senior high school in urban and rural.The questionnaire was divided into two parts,part 1 : the basic information of chemistry teachers from senior high school;part 2 : the professional identity scale.By using the SPSS17.0 analyzed the data of questionnaires,concluded the current situation and significant difference of urban and rural high school chemistry teachers.The results of this study show that: 1.chemistry teachers from senior high school have a comparatively higher professional identity;2.there are significant differences of chemistry teachers from senior high school between urban and rural areas;3.chemistry teachers from senior high school have the differences in gender,teaching age,professional titles,monthly income and so on;4.there are significant differences in different dimensions.The formation and development of professional identity of chemistry teachers from senior high school is not an independent process,it is necessary to consider the teachers' family,work environment and individual factors of teachers to narrow the differences in the professional identity of chemistry teachers in urban and rural senior high schools.
