Since the reform and opening up,with the deepening of the degree of globalization and the implementation of the “going out” strategy of the country, the OFDI scale has been significantly increased. In 2015,China's OFDI flow exceeded FDI and achieved net output of capital for the first time.Based on historical experience and existing literature,it is known that OFDI will have a series of complex effects on the host country's economy and that the impact on employment will also exist. At the same time, due to the influence of domestic and foreign factors, the employment issue in China has been very severe, the scale of employment has continued to expand, the employment structure has become increasingly contradictory, and the quality of employment needs to be improved. In particular, the geographical complexity of our country, and its resulting regional differences in employment in China are also a matter of concern. Then, what impact does OFDI have on employment in China? What are the differences in the impact on employment in the East,Central, and West Regions? This is an important issue that has not yet been noticed. This article will analyze and explore the regional differences in the employment of China's foreign direct investment in the eastern, central, and western regions in order to find an opportunity to solve the employment problem or take relevant measures to deal with the adverse effects.Firstly, this paper adopts qualitative methods to analyze the related impact of OFDI on employment and OFDI's transmission mechanism for employment. Then, using quantitative methods, the system GMM method was used to empirically analyze the regional differences in the impact of domestic OFDI on China ' s employment from the three aspects of total employment, employment structure, and employment quality. The following conclusions were obtained:(1)From the analysis of the total employment,OFDI has had a negative impact on the total employment in the three regions of the eastern region, the central region, and the western region. The increase in OFDI has led to the problem that the number of people decreases and theprobability of unemployed increases in the three regions of the eastern region, the central region, and the western region.(2)From the perspective of the employment structure of the three major industries,OFDI in the eastern region has negatively affected the employment of the primary industry, promoted employment in the secondary and tertiary industries, and conducted OFDI in the central and western regions. The employment of the primary industry and the secondary industry had a negative impact on the employment of the tertiary industry. In general,OFDI optimized the employment structure.(3)From the perspective of employment quality,OFDI in the eastern region, central region, and the western region has promoted the quality of employment. The increase of OFDI in the three regions will increase the quality of employment.
