This points the way for ideological and political education in colleges and universities.Healthy personality is the key to the growth of modern college students.Therefore,the problem of personality cultivation has been paid more and more attention by educators.The shaping of the healthy personality of college students has also become an important task of ideological and political education in colleges and universities in the new era."The Theory of Moral Sentiments" is Adam Smith's representative work of ethics.In the book he gives a profound discussion of the sympathetic emotions that people generally possess.As an important emotional expression,sympathy is the basis of moral evaluation and the foundation of the selfishness and altruism virtues.At the same time,sympathetic emotion has a certain influence on the development of healthy personality of college students,so it has strong plasticity and educational value.This article attempts to integrate Adam Smith's sympathy theory into the cultivation of college students' healthy personality,maximize the role of sympathy and emotion,promote the cultivation of college students' healthy personality,and enable them to become excellent talents for all-round development.This article is divided into four parts: First,starting from the concept of personality and healthy personality,it discusses the characteristics of college students' healthy personality and the significance of shaping.Then it elaborated on the main content of Adam Smith's sympathy ideology: sympathy and moral evaluation,sympathy and virtue.Secondly,through the analysis of the status quo of our country's contemporary college students' personality,we pointed out the problems existing in the development of college students' personality and their causes.Third,Adam Smith's sympathy ideology reflects on the insufficiency of contemporary college students' personality development.From the decline of sympathy and emotion,it is impossible to interact with people harmoniously;the imbalance of conscience cannot be evaluated correctly;and the reduction of virtues produced by sympathetic emotions is described in three aspects.Finally,the inspiration of Adam Smith's sympathy thoughts on the development of contemporary college students' healthy personality,based on the enhancement of sympathy and emotion,proposed countermeasures for the cultivation of college students' healthy personality from six aspects.
