This article explores the relationship between the choice of strategies used by a college student in Baoding City,Hebei Province,when using social media for image management,and the demographic variables,basic Internet usage,self-esteem,and social capital.This article uses the literature research method to define the concept and summarizes the results of previous studies.It uses a questionnaire survey to use a university student in Baoding City of Hebei Province as a research object,using a college student social media basic situation questionnaire,and a college student social media impression management strategy questionnaire.The Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale and the Social Capital Scale were studied.Through a questionnaire survey and analysis of the data,it was concluded that the strategy chosen by a university student in a university in Baoding,Hebei Province,for managing impressions on social media met the following conclusions:(1)There is no relationship between gender and the strategic choice of impression management;(2)The students with higher grades tend to use manipulation strategies and less use injury control strategies.(3)Liberal arts students are more inclined to use catering strategies,and science and engineering students are more inclined to use injury control strategies.(4)Subjective sticky users on social media tend to use catering strategies,and objective sticky users tend to use injury control strategies.(5)Users who use social media more often are more likely to use a catering strategy for impression management;(6)There is no clear relationship between the number of friends,usage behavior,self-image definition,and image management strategies.(7)Users who improve self-esteem through self-affirmation are more inclined to use catering strategies and injury control strategies.Users who self-denial to avoid self-esteem frustration tend to use manipulation strategies.(8)Whether it is bond-based social capital based on strong relationships or bridging-type social capital based on weak relationships is related to catering strategy and injury control strategy,and has nothing to do with manipulation strategy.
