In the context of an aging society, more and more people spend their old age in the community. The elderly, aged between 75 and 89,are almost unserviced. They are gradually unable to move smoothly. The disease-induced psychological distress experienced by this population decreases quality of life. This study has designed and implemented the reminiscence group intervention for the people with lower morale in the community, and furthermore to examine the effects of the intervention program on the elderly. This study used a pre-post test, controlled quasi-experimental design.Twenty elders with low morale were assigned into a reminiscence group and a control group. The reminiscence group intervention program was organized into six times, one hour group sessions, and each session with one theme.Analyses using paired tests suggested that the reminiscence group program could improve the morale of the chronic disabled older adults in the community.Overall, all participants evaluated their participation experiences positively, such as the enjoyment of spending time together through sharing experiences.Practice implications for social workers who design and implement intervention program for the elderly have been discussed.
