The compulsory education stage,included primary school and junior high school,was set to nine years system in mathematics curriculum standard(2011 edition),which emphasized the integrity of the mathematics education content in nine-year compulsory education.However,based on the results of classroom observation,questionnaire survey,and teachers' interview,a disjoint phenomenon between primary school and junior high school was presented in the mathematics classroom teaching.Many students in seventh grade were difficult to adapt to the mathematics study in junior high school,which resulted in the polarization of students' mathematics achievement and influenced their subsequent study and development.This study focused on the mathematics teaching connection between primary school and junior high school.Four aspects were included as following:First,the main contents of introduction include the raise of questions,purpose and significance of the research,and research status at home and abroad,etc.,which provide the direction and lay the foundation for this study.Second,aiming at the current state of mathematics teaching connection between primary school and junior high school,we investigated 487 students and 48 first-line mathematics teachers in the eighth and ninth middle schools of Wuhai city.Besides,we also interviewed many mathematics teachers in second middle school,the eighth middle school and the ninth middle school of Wuhai city.Our results showed the reasons for the problems of mathematics teaching connection between primary school and junior high school were as follows:The problems from the teachers were:(1)a weak sense of teaching connection;(2)failure in cultivating students' learning ability and habit;(3)a low level of awareness of the teaching method and an insufficient guidance;(4)less infiltration of mathematical thought methods in classroom teaching.The problems from students were:(1)the existed knowledge resulting in the mind-set;(2)lacking the habit of consciously correcting mistakes;(3)a low level of abstract thinking;(4)a strong dependence.Thirdly,the countermeasures for the mathematics teaching connection between primary school and junior high school were put forward from teaching content and teaching method.Based on the analysis of the teaching contents in primary school and junior high school,several aspects of teaching connection difficulties were found and included arithmetic number and rational number,number and algebra,arithmetic methods and geometric equation method,and the experimental geometry and argument geometry.Aiming at these aspects,we compared the knowledge of primary and junior high schools,analyzed the teaching contents and made suggestions about teaching.According to the results of teaching contents analysis and the reasons of mathematics teaching connection between primary and junior high schools,corresponding teaching strategies were put forward from teaching preparation,classroom teaching and tutoring after-school in order to promote the smooth transition from primary school to junior high school.Fourth,based on the strategies presented above,teaching case was showed from filling learning gaps before class,new class teaching,and reviewing lessons to illustrate the implementation method of teaching connection.
