As a sporting event integrating sports,music and dance,sports dance is not affected by age,gender,region and season.It is loved by the masses in China,enriches people's spiritual life,and improves people's physical quality.At this stage,the content of physical education for primary school students is single and lacks innovation and fun.As a result,students' enthusiasm in physical education is not high.This has a negative impact on students' physical health,mental health and social adaptability etc.Sports dance is a fashionable,relaxed and passionate sport that combines fitness and entertainment.It aims at improving the overall health level of students' physical,mental and physiological functions and social adaptability.It truly focuses on the cultivation of students' health awareness and physical exercise habits,enables students to grow up healthily,inspires students' interest in sports,and cultivates their lifelong sports awareness.If a sports dance curriculum is set up in a primary school,it can enrich the content of physical education,relieve students' learning pressure,and increase their enthusiasm about participating in sports activities.By means of introducing the value and functions of sports dance,the characteristics of physical and psychological development of primary school students,the characteristics of sports dance itself and the influences of sports dance on the physical and mental development of primary school students,this paper analyzes the feasibility of setting up sports dance curriculums in primary schools in Dongying City,Shandong Province,and advocates schools improving students' physical quality,inspiring students' interest in sports,and cultivating their lifelong sports awareness through taking “lifelong sports” as the guiding principle.This paper uses literature review method,field survey,mathematical statistics and questionnaire survey etc.to study the feasibility of opening a sports dance curriculum in primary schools in Dongying City,Shandong Province.The main findings are:(1)At present,the main forms of sports dance performed in primary schools in Dongying City,Shandong Province are sports dance training teams,school interest classes,and school sports dance interest groups.For the students investigated,most of the students once contacted and studied sports dance.At the same time,teachers and students also agree that schools should popularize sports dance curriculums.The training teams and interest classes are only for a small number of students and are not available to all students,thus,they do not embody the concept of quality-oriented education.(2)The primary schools in Dongying City,Shandong Province will often provide students with various performance opportunities to improve their communication skills,social adaptability and self-confidence.Sports dance is a sport with a combination of sports and art.The development of sports dance curriculums plays an important role in improving primary school students' sports quality,aesthetic interest,humanistic quality,and building a positive and optimistic campus education environment.In the meantime,the development of sports dance curriculums is also a basic way to achieve “Sports and Arts 2+1” project.(3)Sports dance,which has a strong role in promoting the mental health,physiology function and social adaptability of primary school students,conforms to the sports needs and physical and mental development characteristics of the primary school students,can cultivate students' aesthetic ability,improve students' interest in sports and physical coordination etc.,promote the personality development of students and improve learning efficiency.Therefore,the setting of the sports dance curriculums in primary schools embodies the sports curriculums' basic concept of “health first”,and puts the sports curriculums' concept of “health first” into effect to enable students to grow up healthily.(4)At present,the existing fields,equipment and faculties in the primary schools in Dongying City,Shandong Province,can fully meet the basic requirements for the setting of the sports dance curriculums.In addition,running the sports dance curriculums in Dongying City,Shandong Province has got the support and consent from school leaders and teachers.All of these provide a basis for running the sports dance curriculum in primary schools in Dongying City,Shandong Province.
