| Education in high school and college are two stages of inheritance. The teaching quality of the two-stage complemented each other.High school chemistry teaching is the foundation of the college chemistry teaching. The better college teaching quality is based on the ensuring of the quality of high school teaching. In recent years, many college teachers found that some aspects of the teaching quality of inorganic chemistry need to be improved, for instance, some freshmen study with lack of interest, poor initiative, and couldn’t adapt to the college learning habits. From the problems in the process of college students’ learning,we could find the loopholes in teaching and learning process of the high school chemistry.By examination of these problems, appropriate solutions are proposed to ensure the quality of high school chemistry teaching.Based on the literature research and review, three parts of works were carried out by using the methods of comparative research and questionnaire survey.First of all,the curriculum standards and textbook content between the high school chemistry(elective 4)and the "Chemical Reaction Principles" part in the college inorganic chemistry are compared. It was found that the chemistry concepts are mainly presented at a macro level in high school. The depth of knowledge was shallow, and the theoretical knowledge was presented in a qualitative form. However, the rigorous concept was given in the college chemistry textbook;the study of relevant theories was mainly carried out in a quantitative form;and the difficult problems were solved in the study of college chemistry. In general, there was a stepwise development relationship between the two stages of the knowledge about the principles of chemical reactions. In the process of chemistry learning, the awareness of senior middle school students are less than college students, when they are dealing with difficulties. However, performance of college students has declined in the aspects of chemistry interest, initiative, and enthusiasm for class, compared with that of senior middle school students. The difficulties in learning high school chemistry were the equilibrium constant and the equilibrium concentration and conversion rate of each substance, salt hydrolysis, etc. However, the acidity and alkalinity of the amphiphilic substance and the calculation of the pH value of the buffer solution were difficult in the inorganic chemistry learning. The freshmen had difficulty in understanding new knowledge;the overlapped knowledge in inorganic chemistry was often confused with high school knowledge by the freshmen;high school and college students have insufficient in computing ability.Face to these problems and avoid them in high school chemistry teaching, which laid a solid foundation for the study of chemistry in the college. It will greatly improve the teaching quality of chemistry subject.Based on the construction theory, recent development zone theory, the effective measures were proposed for the process of the high school chemistry course teaching. It was recommended to open a second chemistry class. It mainly includes chemistry puzzle challenge group, creative fun chemistry group, chemical frontier group and conduct activities outside the normal class. These activities could stimulate high school students’ interest to learn chemistry and improve their enthusiasm for learning. The college pre-requisites and chemistry competition courses should be introduced in the course of high school chemistry. The on-line and off-line hybrid teaching should be used, for instance the use of short video and mind mapping in the teaching process.Interactive teaching should be used, such as the use of ‘contrast-extension’ and ‘teacher example-student summary’;diversified methods should be implemented for the evaluation of academic record. This paper aimed to improve the teaching quality of high school chemistry and provide some effective strategies for the teaching and learning of the high school chemistry and make preparation for high school students to enter the university studying in chemistry-related major in the future. |
