During the process of population aging social participation undoubtedly plays an active role and can effectively improve the emotional health level of the elderly. It is also an important strategy of community social work and aging social work.Through the combing of domestic and foreign literatures,it is found that the current study on the influence of social participation on the emotional health of the elderly ignores the important problem of selectivity of social participation, and thus does not find the heterogeneity effect of social participation on the emotional health of the elderly. So,no one can answers the question "Who benefits most from the social participation among the elders?"Moreover, there are some relevant strategies for social work involved in the social participation of the elderly, and there is something worth improving. In view of the above problems, this study uses the data of the Chinese Family Panel Survey(CFPS)to analyze the selectivity of social participation and its heterogeneity by using the methods of Propensity Score Matching and Heterogeneity Treatment Effect analysis.Based on the empirical evidence provided by the results, this paper puts forward the strategy of social work intervening in the community participation of the elderly. In the analysis, this paper puts forward the set of competitive assumptions of"positive hypothesis"and"negative hypothesis"as the core hypothesis of this paper. The results of the data analysis strongly validate the"negative hypothesis"that older persons who are least likely to engage in social participation have the greatest return on their emotional health if they engage in social participation, and reject the"positive hypothesis"that older persons who are most likely to engage in social participation have the greatest return on their emotional health if they engage in social participation. In addition, three important hypotheses are put forward and validated in data analysis, respectively:different types of social participation have different effects on the emotional health of the elderly;there are urban-rural differences in the impact of social participation;and the heterogeneity of social participation exists only with the urban elderly population.Based on the conclusion of empirical evidence, the corresponding strategy of social work intervention is put forward in the light of the concept of evidence-oriented,respectively:in the process of social work involving the elderly,we should pay attention to the precise identification of the service object, and face up to the urban and rural differences of the elderly social participation.Rural social workers should pay more attention;Social workers should organize effective social participation activities;and dialectical view of the role of social participation. The core conclusion of this paper leads to the further deepening of the related research on social participation and emotional health of the elderly, especially for the domestic situation, which may have more important theoretical and practical significance. However, there are some limitations in data measurement and so on in this paper. Finally, combined with the development trend of evidence-based social work, this paper discusses and looks forward to the application of quantitative sociological research in it.
