"Pathways in Technology Early College High School"(P-TECH)is an innovative model to train applied talents in the United States.The first P-TECH was established in 2011,choosing the location in Brooklyn,New York.It was a public school,co-founded by New York City Department of Education,City University of New York,New York City College of Technology and the IBM Corporation,to train IT technical talents to increase the students toll of higher education to improve employment.P-TECH is established in the context of the decline in the manufacturing industry and national competitiveness in the United States,hoping that students can get high school diploma,associate degree and first in line for hiring through the six-year education program,which integrates secondary and higher education as well as general education and vocational education.The model also aimed at filling the job vacancies in STEM,and develop economy.Shortly after its establishment,P-TECH was widely concerned by the U.S.government and the society.It gradually became a brand of applied talents training in the United States,and was extended to other parts of the United States.The goal of P-TECH focused on STEM and other high-tech industries;the running model emphasized multilateral governance and depth integration;as to curriculum system,it creatively designed a six-year integrated curriculum to strengthen the connection between secondary and higher education;the teaching form of P-TECH combined subject teaching and practice in the workplace;and the education concept of P-TECH advocated student-centered with a variety of learning paths.P-TECH broke the barrier of secondary education and higher education,fused general education and vocational education.It reflects the new trend of the reform of secondary education in the United States,and has significant influence to the education reform and development in China.
