As higher education in China turning to public education from elite education, applied higher education came into being. Meanwhile, applied undergraduate education turns out under the situation that economic society is developing quickly and industry is approving deeply, and the developing of local economic needs lots of, varieties of undergraduate talents.New style applied talents' characteristics can be summarized as: with higher vocation moral standards and key abilities; with stronger technology application abilities and work organizing abilities; with wider knowledge; with the professional theory foundation of researching and analyzing working problems, being good at finding and resolving working problems; with better psychological quality, being good at dealing with unexpected incidents at the scene. In order to satisfy the need of society, applied undergraduate education must resolve the problems, such as identifying education objectives and constructing education mode. In my paper, I will begin with American applied undergraduate education. On the foundation of analyzing its education objective, curriculum setting and teaching mode, I will suggest new education mode for Chinese applied undergraduate education. Then, the whole papers can be divided into four parts:Firstly, the developing process of American applied undergraduate education is introduced, and different influencing factors are revealed. Recalling the history, analyzing the present situation, and discussing the influencing factors are the basis of the followed contents.Secondly, focus on analyzing characteristics of American applied undergraduate education mode. Education objective with key abilities, profession setting and curriculum system with applicational function and teaching mode with practical function are discussed in detail. Moreover, the example of electrical engineering technology in American Michigan Technology University is added to show an exact American education mode.Thirdly, the same professional-electrical engineering technology is compared between American Michigan Technology University and Shanghai Institute of technology. This comparison is started in three dimensions: the context of profession development, training objective and curriculum teaching. The aim of this comparison is to find out similarities and differences between them, and then discover the problem in Chinese applied undergraduate education.Finally, the achievements and the problems in Chinese applied undergraduate education are showed, and then the suggestion to Chinese applied undergraduate education is proposed on the basis of American experience.
