In the context of globalization, the issue of student identity has been gaining increasingly attention from scholars. One of the important tasks of school teaching reform is how to make students construct positive identities and identify with their own identities, and also an important strategy for educational reform at home and abroad.Students' identification is their recognition of “who they are” and “who they will be”.The construction of student identity is a process in which students choose and gradually realize their "future identity" according to their own interests and learning experience.Dewey,an American philosopher and educator, first advocated the issue of student identity in educational circles. In his philosophy of children's interest,he put forward three core ideas of "relationship","growth" and "experience".In the dimension of "relationship",interest as "intermediary" can establish the relationship between students and learning content, and establishing the connection between students' present identity and future identity; In the dimension of "growth",growth potential promotes the occurrence of students' interest and makes students change from "immature state" to "mature state" on their own initiative, which would promoting the identification and construction of students' identity; In the dimension of "experience",the occurrence of students' interest is based on the constant renewal of experience, and gradually constructs their student identity in the process of "learning by doing".This theory provides a unique theoretical horizon for the study of student identity.According to the revelation of Dewey's philosophy of children's interest,in the consideration of students' identity,we find: interest is the basis of students' identity;student identity is influenced by country, school and family;in the ultimate realization of student identity, even if interested,it also needs efforts. The concrete measures of student identity construction are to establish the relationship between interest and student identity,to develop students' growth potential,to pay attention to and make use of students' unique experience. Finally, eight junior high school students from S Middle School in Huangshi City,Hubei Province were chosen to have a individual case.Through interviews,we can understand the actual situation of junior middle school students' identification and construction in the perspective of Dewey's philosophy of children's interest. On this basis, the conclusions and thoughts of this study are further elaborated. This paper is divided into five parts:The first part: introduction. This part mainly introduces the research background, definition of related concepts, literature review, research purpose and significance, research ideas and methods, innovation of this study and the appropriateness of Dewey's philosophy of children's interest as a research perspective. The second part: Dewey's children's interest philosophy as methodology. This part mainly elaborates three main levels of Dewey's philosophy of children's interest: "relationship","growth" and "experience".The third part: students' identification from the perspective of children's interest philosophy. From the perspective of children's interest philosophy, this part elaborates on students' identity and its influencing factors(country, school and family). And analyze how to make interest promote students' identity in these two aspects. The fourth part: the construction of students' identity from the perspective of children's interest philosophy. In this part, from the perspective of children's interest philosophy, the construction of students' identity is discussed in detail from three aspects: relationship, growth and experience. It mainly involves students' needs, original experience, learning environment, growth potential and other factors,as well as subjective and objective factors affecting students' identity construction. The fifth part: a case study of student identity from the perspective of children's interest philosophy. This part introduces the background and practical significance of the case study. From the perspective of Dewey's philosophy of children's interest, this paper examines the actual situation of identification and construction of junior middle school students in Dewey's school from three aspects: relationship, growth and experience.According to the survey data collected from the interviews, the authoranalyzed and summarized them to provide practical support for further enriching the research in the field of student identity.
