Pedagogical Content Knowledge(PCK)refers to a type of knowledge,in which teachers transform the content knowledge they have mastered into the knowledge that can be easily understood by students through analogy,example and explanation.PCK is the core knowledge of teacher professional development,and is one of the hot issues in the field of teacher education research in recent years.The purpose of this study is to explore the PCK level and characteristics of senior high school chemistry proficient teachers,so as to provide some references for the professional development of senior high school chemistry teachers.The core questions of this study are: What is the status of the PCK level of senior high school chemistry proficient teachers? What are the PCK characteristics of senior high school chemistry proficient teachers? Aiming at the research questions,35 senior high school chemistry proficient teachers in Hebei Province are selected as the research subjects.The quantitative research tool compiled by Erickson College in the United States is adopted,and the interview method is used to assist the research.The final conclusions are as follows:(1)The overall PCK level of senior high school chemistry proficient teachers is at the second level,namely the basic level,indicating that their overall PCK level is low.(2)The three dimensions of PCK,namely teaching content knowledge,student knowledge and teaching strategy knowledge,are at the second level of this study,namely the basic level.Among them,teaching content knowledge is well mastered,while student knowledge and teaching strategy knowledge are relatively poor.(3)There is a significant difference between the teaching content knowledge and the student knowledge and the teaching strategy knowledge of the senior high school chemistry proficient teachers,and there is no significant difference between the student knowledge and the teaching strategy knowledge.(4)There is a significant correlation among the three dimensions of PCK,whichare related,influenced and restricted to each other.(5)The typical characteristics of PCK of senior high school chemistry proficient teachers are as follows.First,The overall level of PCK is low and the development of each dimension is uneven.Second,The teaching content knowledge is rich,while the student knowledge and the teaching strategy knowledge are deficient.Third,The ability to identify teaching strategies is strong,while the ability to adjust teaching strategies is weak.Fourth,Senior high school chemistry proficient teachers have a single source of PCK and few ways to develop PCK.Based on the research findings,this study proposes suggestions for the improvement and development of senior high school chemistry proficient teachers' PCK level from three aspects,namely,the improvement of teaching content knowledge,the improvement of student knowledge and the improvement of teaching strategy knowledge.
