Socio-scientific issues(SSI)refers to a series of controversial issues brought to human life by science and technology in the process of development.Classroom teaching based on social science issues is called SSI teaching.SSI teaching focuses on the individual development of ethics and morality.It emphasizes that in the context of SSI,students should make use of their existing knowledge and experience,explore and study open controversial social science issues with their own moral feelings,stimulate students' interest in learning by using social science issues,help students understand the nature of science,develop students' argumentation ability,and cultivates their ethical morality.The purpose of this study was to investigate the current situation of moral sensitivity of senior high school students,and to explore the influence of SSI teaching on the development of moral sensitivity among senior high school students through the practice of SSI applied in biology class.The main work done was as follows:1.Consulting relevant SSI teaching research at home and abroad to understand the progress of SSI teaching research,and defining relevant concepts;2.Taking the senior high school biology textbook of People's Education Press as an example,this paper analyzed and summarized the curriculum content suitable for SSI teaching;3.Selecting samples,interviewing biology teachers in sample schools to understand the views of front-line teachers on the implementation of SSI teaching and moral education in schools;conducting questionnaires to senior high school students to understand students' moral sensitivity level;4.Designing SSI teaching cases according to the characteristics of biology,choosing the topics of "anticancer drugs" and "embryonic cloning" for teaching practice,and studying the changes of students' moralsensitivity before and after SSI teaching practice.The results indicated that:(1)The biology teachers interviewed held a positive attitude towards the implementation of SSI teaching in biology classroom.They believed that SSIteaching was conducive to the achievement of students' core biological literacy,and could better tap moral education resources in biology curriculum,which was conducive to the infiltration of moral education in biology classroom.(2)The score of moral sensitivity measurement of the first grade students was 3.98±0.44,which was at a higher level.(3)Through SSI teaching practice,results of the topic of "anticancer drugs" indicated there was no significant difference between the pre-test and post-test in the control class(p > 0.05).The pre-test moral sensitivity score in the experimental class was 1.38±1.21.After SSI teaching,the moral sensitivity test score was 2.05±1.00.There was significant difference between pre-test and post-test(p < 0.05).In the topic of "embryonic cloning",before SSI teaching,the score of moral sensitivity test was 2.52±1.33,and after SSI teaching,the score of moral sensitivity test was 3.63±1.31.There was significant difference in moral sensitivity before and after SSI teaching(p < 0.05).In the practice of SSI teaching,there was no significant difference in the level of moral sensitivity between boys and girls(p > 0.05).Conclusion: SSI teaching can improve students' moral sensitivity and develop their ethics and morality effectively.
