A Study On The Dilemma Of Mate-choosing Of Older Unmarried Women In Grassroots

In recent years,with the development of China's economy,the society has been accelerating into the transition period,and the unmarried women have attracted the attention of all sectors of society.The emergence of the word "leftover women" and various dating shows also reflect the attention and topical nature of this group.Influenced by western celibacy and Chinese traditional ideas of "getting married and starting a career" and "keeping a husband and raising children",women have fallen into the dilemma of choosing a spouse.Previous scholars have systematically studied and analyzed the emergence of unmarried young women,but they have not made too much special research on the grassroots leftover women.There are similarities and significant differences between grassroots leftover women and urban leftover women,so it is necessary to separately study the plight of grassroots leftover women in mate choice and marriage anxiety.In this paper,the senior unmarried female civil servants in D town of jiangxi province were selected as samples,While reading a large number of literatures,this paper explored the real situation of leftover women at the grassroots level by means of participatory observation and unstructured interview,and explored the causes of their dilemma in mate choice and marriage anxiety.The results show that although the "leftover" of unmarried female civil servants is not considered as a "dilemma" or "problem",it is probably the result of their active choice.However,almost all the interviewees in this paper are willing to get married,and it is difficult for them to choose a spouse to get married.On the one hand,they are eager to get married and family life,get rid of the pressure of public opinion,and get more social support.On the other hand,they also have the belief that "it is easy to find priceless,rare lover",hoping to find their own expectations of the spouse.The fact is that in county towns,there are not many marriageable men in grassroots unmarried female civil servants,and the reasonable standards for leftover women in grassroots haven't brought them reasonable results in mate selection.This paper describes the grassroots leftover women in the dilemma of mate choice from three aspects: mate choice motive,mate choice preference and mate choice style.One is the conflict between mate choice motive and mate choice style;the other is the conflict between mate choice motive and mate choice preference.The main causes of the plight of grassroots leftover women are: external factors--structural imbalance of gender structure,influence of traditional views on love and marriage,imperfection of matchmaking platform and negative factors brought by work industry;Personal factors--the impact of family and parents,the impact of singleness,the deviation of emotional expectations from reality,the negative impact of past experience.Finally,this paper suggests that the society,family and individuals form a linkage to help grassroots leftover women get out of the dilemma of choosing a spouse and enter the marriage life from multiple aspects,such as social values,public security,matchmaking market,family emotional support and individual psychological adjustment.At the same time,the paper also puts forward some Suggestions on the marriage and love anxiety of grassroots leftover women.
