Textbooks are the core material for teachers and students to carry out teaching activities and are the most important teaching medium.Image system,as an important part of textbooks,plays a vital role in it.With the promulgation of the "General Senior High School Biology Curriculum Standards(2017 Edition)",biology textbooks will inevitably be revised and improved to meet the requirements of teachers and students of the new era,which necessarily involves the preparation of image systems.Therefore,the author makes a comparative study on the image system of Chinese and American textbooks,in order to learn from the excellent design experience of foreign textbook image system,which provides reference for the compilation of textbook image system in China,and also provides suggestions for teachers to use textbook images.The paper is divided into seven parts.The first part is the introduction,which introduces the origin of the research problem.Through the literature analysis,the research background of the textbook image system and the related research status at home and abroad are expounded,and the purpose and significance of the research are determined.The second part is the definition of the relevant concepts and the theoretical basis.This part defines and summarizes related concepts such as "textbook","image" and"image system" in the paper,and from the cognitive psychology foundation of image system,the classification of image system,educational function and evaluation system.The theoretical basis of the research is elaborated.The third part is the research design.This part mainly focuses on the selection of research objects,research content and methods,and the formulation of research tools.It also focuses on the quantitative analysis dimension of the textbook image system and the construction process of qualitative analysis indicators,which provides strong support for the next research analysis.The fourth part is a quantitative comparison of the image systems of biology textbooks between China and the United States.According to the quantitative analysis dimension of the textbook image system that has been developed,we first start from the whole and carry out statistical analysis and comparison on the overview of the image system of the textbooks of the two countries;then from the organization of images and texts,image representation,image content and educational functions.Different dimensions are used to classify and count the image systems,and analyze and compare them accordingly.The fifth part is a qualitative comparison of the image systems of Chinese and American biology textbooks.Firstly,the paper analyzes and compares the textbook systems of the two countries from the scientific and graphic relevance of the images,and then analyzes and compares the textbooks of the two countries according to the qualitative analysis indicators of the textbook image system.The sixth part is the conclusion of the study.Based on the quantitative and qualitative comparison of the Chinese and American textbook image systems,this part summarizes the common points,their respective advantages and disadvantages of the textbook systems of the two countries.The seventh part is revelation and reflection.This part provides inspiration and suggestions for the preparation and analysis of the textbook image system in our country.
