College students are faced with many ambiguity decisions, such as employment and entrepreneurship. It is of great significance to make the satisfactory decision which promote adapting to the society. From new motivation perspective, this article tried to apply both regulatory theory and regulatory fit theory to ambiguity decision making field, took undergraduate students as subjects, asked them to complete ambiguity decision preference task and Regulatory Focus Questionnaire, used experiment methods to explore whether regulatory focus, task frame and decision-making role these factors influence ambiguity aversion in personal money and life-saving decision areas respectively. This study involved a 2(regulatory focus: promotion focus vs.prevention focus)×2(task frame: gain vs.loss)×2(decision-making role: self vs.others)between-subject design. The results showed that in personal money decision domain, there was a significant interaction between regulatory focus and task frame.Specifically,Participants with promotion focus were more ambiguity seeking than those with prevention focus in gain condition. While in life-saving decision area, there was a significant main effect of task frame.Specifically, participants were less ambiguity aversion in loss condition than in gain condition. There was also a significant three-way interaction among regulatory focus, task frame and decision-making role.Specifically, while making decisions for themselves in gain condition, participants with promotion focus were more ambiguity seeking than participants with prevention focus. That is,the effect of regulatory focus, task frame and decision-making role on ambiguity aversion is different in different decision area.In personal money decision area, there were fit effects between regulatory focus and task frame.Compared with non-fit,participants in fit condition were less likely to dodge ambiguity. While in life-saving decision area, compared with non-fit,participants in fit condition were less likely to dodge ambiguity when they making decisions for themselves. In a word, there was a regulatory fit effect whether in personal money decision domain or in life-saving decision area. That is,individuals who pursue achievement were less likely to dodge ambiguity when the information was presented in a beneficial way.The results of this study shed light on how to make a better ambiguity decisions on employment and prosocial behavior for undergraduates.
