Regulatory focus theory (Higgins,1997) proposes that people have different types of regulatory focus (promotion focus vs. prevention focus). When goal pursuit strategy sustains their regulatory focus, that is regulatory fit (promotion fit vs. prevention fit). Regulatory Fit can influence individuls’ thinking, attitude, motivation, decision making, information processing, behavior etc. It can improve the task performance. However, in the sports field, the prior research on regulatory fit has only involved the sports field expertiment, rarely involving sports decision making. Therefore, the current study used the "situational regulatory focus and reward structure" paradigm to manipulate regulatory fit in the laboratory and used temporal occlusion paradigm to manipulate decision making. Three experiments aimed to testify the effect of regulatory fit and with global-local processing, stress condition on basketball decision making. There were102university basketball players participated into this study.Experiment1adopted2(regulatory focus)×2(reward structure)×2(decision making task) mixed-design experiment to testify the influence of regulatory fit on sports decision making. The results suggested,(1) regulatory focus and reward structure had a significant interaction on the intuitive decision making, the accuracy of decision making under regulatory fit is higher than that under mismatch;(2) There was no significant difference of the accuracy of decision making under promotion fit and prevention fit condition.Experiment2adopted one factor between-group experiment design to testify the influence of fit type on intuitive decision making on high stress condition. The results suggested, the accuracy of decision making under promotion fit was higher than that under prevention fit on high stress condition. Experiment3adopted2(fit type)X2(global-local perception processing) between-group experiment design to testify the influence of regulatory fit and perception processing on intuitive decision making. The results suggested,(1) perception processing did not moderate the relationship between fit type and the accuracy of intuitional decision making. That didn’t confirm the hypothesis.(2) Perception processing could influence the accuracy of intuitional decision making all alone. The paticipants with local processing could perform better than with glocal processing.
