Study On The Relationship Between Narcissism And Handwritten Signature In Chinese Context

Narcissistic personality traits are more and more common in China.When a narcissist takes a leadership position,it will bring extreme positive and negative effects to the organization.However,according to the literature review,the domestic research on narcissistic leadership is still in its infancy,and one of the limiting factors is the lack of effective tools to measure narcissistic leadership.The questionnaire method is mainly used to measure the narcissism of leaders in China,this method has some limitations.In order to find an effective evaluation method for narcissistic leadership,this study explores the relationship between narcissism level and handwritten signature in Chinese context.Based on the consistency theory,this study explores the relationship between narcissism and handwritten signature in Chinese context and the role of gender.This study adopts the empirical research method and proves the relationship between narcissism and handwritten signature step by step through two sub-studies.In this study,146 undergraduate students were selected as subjects to explore the influence of narcissism level on signature size and signature style.Due to the limited external validity of the student sample,144 EMBA students with business backgrounds were selected as subjects for the confirmatory analysis in the second study.Combined with the data analysis results of the two sub-studies,it was found that :(1)on the whole,the relationship between narcissistic personality and signature size was not significant;(2)there was a significant positive correlation between the level of narcissism and the size of the signature in the female sample.(3)there was a significant positive correlation between narcissism level and signature illegibility.(4)there was a significant negative correlation between the narcissism level and the proportion of signature effective area in the female samples.The conclusion of the experiment can be used for reference in the following studies on narcissistic leadership.Finally,we summarize the main conclusions,elaborates the research contribution points and management enlightenment,and the conclusions of this paper have certain reference value for identifying whether the individual is narcissistic in the organization and the subsequent research on the behavioral characteristics of narcissistic leaders.
