STEM education for innovative and compound talents is becoming a hot spot in the reform of basic education in all countries in the world.In recent years,China has also actively promoted the development of STEM education in primary and secondary schools.Highlighting the integration of disciplines is the core of STEM education.The integrated STEM curriculum is the key and difficult point in the implementation of STEM education,especially in primary schools.The paper applies literature analysis,case study and interview method to analyze and summarize the implementation status and dilemma of integrated STEM curriculum in China.Through the case study of STEM curriculum based on engineering design in American primary schools,the design model and instructional design model of primary school integrated STEM curriculum based on engineering design are summarized.Applying the action research method,combined with the current situation of China’s primary school science curriculum standards and experimental primary schools,and using the summarized engineering-based primary school integrated STEM curriculum design model as a guide to design and develop a primary school integrated STEM curriculum case,and carried out two in the experimental primary school.Round teaching action practice.In the course of action,the classroom observation method and interview method were used to collect the data of teacher and student education and learning process,and the curriculum design and teaching design model were further improved.Through the above research,the paper proposes an engineering-based integrated STEM curriculum design model and design strategy based on science as the anchor discipline and the real engineering problem solving.The five processes based on engineering design are proposed: confirmation problem,design planning,development test,communication reflection,improvement and re-testing teaching design model and teaching and learning strategies of each link.Based on the observation of the practice of two-round teaching,this paper summarizes the problems and improvement strategies of teachers and students in the teaching of integrated STEM based on engineering design.
