In recent years,with the development of science and technology,countries are committed to cultivating inter-disciplinary talents who can adapt to the future society.STEM education has attracted attention at home and abroad,and has become a new trend in the reform of primary and secondary education.STEM courses,as a vehicle for STEM education concepts,makes it possible for the cultivation of engineering thinking.The study adopts literature study,questionnaire survey,case study method and experimental research.By combing the literature,the connotations of engineering thinking and STEM curriculum are defined and the links between STEM curriculum and engineering thinking are analysed.According to the connotation of engineering thinking,the goals of STEM courses are clearly defined as engineering decision thinking,engineering design thinking,engineering implementation thinking and engineering evaluation thinking,the selection of course content is determined to follow the principles of comprehensiveness,openness and practicality.Summarize the teaching cases of cultivating engineering thinking and the cases of STEM courses focusing on engineering,and find that the use of engineering design process in project activities to solve complex real problems is helpful to cultivate engineering thinking.This helps to form the organizational logic of STEM curriculum content and construct the implementation process of STEM curriculum.According to Taylor’s target model and the characteristics of STEM curriculum,determine that the evaluation of STEM courses follows the principles of target correspondence and multiple evaluation,and adopts evaluation methods such as questionnaire survey method,portfolio evaluation method and evaluation scale..Through the pre-test questionnaire survey,understand the current situation of engineering thinking of junior high school students.Combining the theoretical elaboration of STEM curriculum development that highlights engineering thinking,design a Water Reuse curriculum for 8th graders.Spend a semester teaching this curriculum in school.Testing of engineering thinking in two classes of students before the teaching intervention.The results of the pre-test indicated that there was no significant difference in engineering thinking between the two classes before the experiment.After the teaching intervention,there was a significant improvement in engineering thinking for the students in the experimental class compared to the students in the control class.The results of the study showed that the current performance of engineering thinking of junior secondary school students is worrying and engineering decision-making thinking needs to be strengthened,engineering design is a key element in developing a STEM curriculum with highlights engineering thinking,engineering objectives should be used as a guide for engineering activities when implementing STEM courses,Water Reuse curriculum was effective in enhancing the engineering thinking of junior high school students.
