This study provides a detailed description of full-time faculty salary determination of first-class university in china.It is known to all that faculty salary play a key role in university management.However,nowadays,there is a lot of faculty salary problem in the first-class university.Such as young faculty with low salary,faculty leave university for company and so on.What we want to know is who decided the faculty salary and what decided the faculty salary.This study has three parts.The first part is the research on faculty salary policy from 1949 to 2012 based on text analysis.and the second part is the analysis about the faculty salary difference among districts,subjects,universities and gender by chi-square test and description.And the last part is the research on faculty salary determination factors for faculty as an individual person in university.The conclusions of this study are as follows: with the faculty salary policy changed,the university decides the faculty salary other than government after 2006.and the reason of faculty salary difference among districts,subjects,university and gender is that the salaries of first-class university faculty are funded by the central government,local governments and the market.Further more,the salary of faculty in universities is decided by administrative power,academic power and human capital.In a word,for first-class university faculty,their salary is decided by university fund-raising ability,individual human capital,academic influence and administrative position.
