The purpose of this study is to stimulate children's philosophical inquiry spirit and innovative abilities,and deepen students' thinking about the world through the combination of games and philosophy for children(P4C).Three types of game are included in this action research——Performance game,Total Physical Response and Playwise game.The author carefully observed the philosophical thoughts of children expressed by their language and behaviors,conducted in-depth analysis of the game-based children's philosophical activities,and the nature,content and teaching strategies of children's philosophical games.Generally speaking,this dissertation is divided into seven sections:Section 1: Introduction.The author presents the background and motivation of this research study,points out the focus and innovation of this research,and defines the related concepts.Section 2:Literature review.The author tells us the current situation of the theory and practice of “P4C” and “game teaching”.Section 3: The design of Action research.Following the design concept of action research,this part identifies the progress of the research,research objects,fields,the data collection and analysis.Section 4: Theoretical Basis of this study.Based on Piaget's perspective of“Children's game adapts to cognitive development”,Dewey's “Education is inquiry”perspective,Freud's “Children achieve physical and mental unity in the game”perspective,the author illustrates the starting theoretical basis of the study of P4 C.Section 5: Implementation of action research.The children's thoughts during the implementation of the three types of action research programs are analyzed here.The author reflects on self role in the philosophical discussion,adjusts the next round of action research programs,and formulates the next step education action plan.Section 6: The effectiveness of the three rounds of action research are analyzed and discussed,followed by some detailed game-based teaching strategy for P4 C.Section 7: Reflection on the research results and prospects.
