Integrity is the traditional virtue of the Chinese nation, and is also the basic principle of contemporary Chinese peopled life. All aspects of today's society are, however, full of more and more dishonest phenomena, from the lack of pounds when buying and selling commodities,to cheating in important examinations, and even the key industries related to national health and national destiny are emerging in the face of peopled dishonesty.Along the way,we have been working hard to carry out moral education and legal education through various ways, such as teaching by words, teaching by examples, etc.,to remind people of not to forget honesty and credit from both moral and legal levels. These commonly used ways are important, but we should also keep pace with the times and explore new and more effective ways on the way of honesty education.Oathing ceremonies often occur in some important and formal occasions. From the time when students joined the Young Pioneers and the Communist Youth League to the time when they later joined the Chinese Nationalist Party, doctors, police, lawyers, witnesses and judges have to undergo the swearing-in ceremony.Except for the formal atmosphere, the most significant thing is that the people take the oath and read the oath.At that moment, the person was not only telling others, but also telling himself that he would keep his promise and fulfill his obligations. In this way,the vow process is also like a way of honesty education.Based on previous studies on honesty and morality, this study explores the relationship between the oath posture and honesty in the swearing ceremony in Chinese culture from the perspective of body movements. This study designed a preliminary study and three formal studies. The purpose of the preliminary study was to collect the descriptions of what individuals would use when seeing somebody makes an oath in unconscious situations, and whether there were significant differences between the two groups.Firstly, the implicit association test paradigm is used to explore the psychological reality of the abstract concept of honesty and integrity represented by oath posture.Study 2 explores whether the individual's honesty judgment of others will be affected when the initiating individual see the oath posture on the basis of Study 1.The third study further explored and compared whether the individual's honesty behavior would change differently after initiating the oath posture and hand-over-chest posture. The findings of this study are as follows:(1)There is an implicit connection between the concept of honesty and the swearing posture in Chinese culture. The concept of good faith, like the concept of morality, can also be represented by concrete clues.(2)Seeing the swearing posture can affect the individual's judgement of other's honesty, believing that the person who makes the swearing posture will have more characteristics of honesty than the person who does not do the same posture.(3)Seeing the oath can reduce the individual's dishonest behaviour and thus they show more honesty behaviour, especially among women.Hand-over chest posture can also produce the same effect, but the mechanism of the two postues are quite different.
