In the process of understanding and transforming the world through chemistry,the following methods are often used by people: analytical reasoning,abstract generalization,modeling and so on.Reasoning and modeling are important thinking methods that play a significant role in scientific learning.Scientific reasoning includes not only the observation and interpretation of data,but also the reasoning of theories or models based on events or phenomena.In China,the importance of scientific-reasoning teaching has been gradually realized by chemistry-teaching researchers who prefer to bring "evidentiary reasoning and model cognition" into the core accomplishment system of chemistry.The model-based reasoning(MBR)studied in this paper,which falls in between the method of reasoning and modeling,can explain the most primitive cognitive activities of scientists,make students know the thinking process of scientists,and help students understand various reasoning skills and modeling process.This paper makes a literature review on inference research,model research and model inference research,and traces the theoretical sources of model inference.This work also summarizes the theoretical basis of model-reasoning,analyzes the teaching value of modelreasoning,and constructs a teaching-design idea based on model-reasoning through systematic research on reasoning and modeling related contents.The teaching-design process is divided into four steps: provide situation,raise questions;analyze and reason,clarify the connections;comprehensively analyse,construct model;use models to solve problems.This paper selects "REDOX reaction" for the teaching design and practice of MBR,and finally reveals the teaching effect by contrasting the test results of the experimental class and the control class.The test results show that there is a significant difference between the experimental class and the control class,which indicates that MBR has obvious positive effect on students' chemistry learning.MBR is helpful to the development of students' modeling consciousness,reasoning ability and problem-solving capability.
