The fourth industrial revolution,which is characterized by breakthroughs in mobile Internet,cloud computing,artificial intelligence,big data,bioengineering,new materials,new energy and other fields,is coming with great momentum.The research on science education,philosophy of science,science learning psychology and the development of the society shows that learn scientific knowledge isolated or master the scientific method mechanically has no longer adapt to social development demand for innovative and applied talents.In order to understand the meaning of disciplinary core concept and crosscutting concepts profoundly,facilitate knowledge transform into competence and literacy,students must participate in scientific and engineering practices,understand exactly how scientific knowledge and engineering design development within the process.In order to apply the idea of scientific and engineering practices to the practice of science education,the National Research Council defines the connotation,objectives and contents of scientific and engineering practices in A Framework for K-12 Science Education: Practices,Crosscutting Concepts and Core Ideas and Next Generation Science Standards.In 2018,Houghton Mifflin Harcourt incorporated scientific and engineering practices into theirs K-12 Science textbooks,Science Dimensions.Analyzing the content of scientific and engineering practices in Science Dimensions can not only understand the status and role of scientific and engineering practices in curriculum further,but also provide experience and inspiration for the current construction of science curriculum in China.The structure of textbooks and the general thoughts of textbook analysis were clarified through literature review.Then,analyze the selection,organization and presentation of scientific and engineering practices content in "engineering design" theme and natural science theme represented by Module chemistry.Concretely,the characteristics of textbook contents selection are concluded from three aspects: concepts,activities and situations of scientific and engineering practices,the characteristics of textbook contents organization are concluded in terms of arrangement order and writing style,the characteristics of textbook contents presentation are concluded from the introduction and security tips,columns,text,exercise.Through the above analysis,it is found that Science Dimensions highlights the importance of engineering practices in science courses,emphasizes the integration of disciplinary core ideas,crosscutting concepts and scientific and engineering practices,emphasizes the authentic of practices,provides students with opportunities to participate in practices and pays special attention to the relationship between scientific and engineering practices and students' current and future lives.These inspire us that the construction of science curriculum in China should attach importance to understanding practices,build a curriculum content system that integrates engineering and science,organize the curriculum content based on learning progression,ensure the continuity of teaching materials,refine the presentation form of curriculum content,and develop supporting curriculum resources.
