Study On The Influencing Factors And Intervention For College Students' Test Anxiety

Test anxiety is one of the main factors affecting college students' academic mood and academic performance.Long term test anxiety may cause negative emotions such as stress,depression and worry.The phenomenon of test anxiety is very common among college students.Psychological flexibility,academic self-efficacy and academic procrastination are considered as the influencing factors of test anxiety.Therefore,this study aims to understand the influence of psychological flexibility on test anxiety and the chain mediating effect of academic self-efficacy and academic procrastination,on the basis of this research,group counseling based on Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy is carried out to improve the psychological flexibility of college students,strengthen their sense of academic self-efficacy,and reduce the degree of academic procrastination,so as to alleviate the level of test anxiety;furthermore,it provides theoretical guidance and practical help to help college students adjust their test anxiety and establish a good learning attitude.This study is divided into two parts:The first part is the study of the factors affecting college students' test anxiety.In this study,939 college students in Anhui province were investigated by using the Test Anxiety Scale,the Acceptance and Action Questionnaire-Second Edition,the Cognitive Fusion Questionnaire-Fusion,the Academic Self-efficacy Questionnaire and the Academic Procrastination Scale.The results show that:(1)Test anxiety is common,595 people have anxiety,that is63.4% of the total,228 had mild anxiety,that is 24.2% of the total,377 had moderate anxiety,that is 40.1% of the total,and 334 had high anxiety,that is 35.7% of the total.There was a significant difference in grade level of test anxiety.Among them,juniors are significantly lower than freshmen and sophomores.(2)Psychological flexibility was negatively correlated with test anxiety.(3)College students' academic self-efficacy and academic procrastination play a chain mediating role between college students' psychological flexibility and test anxiety.The second part is the intervention study of college students' test anxiety.105 subjects were selected from college students with high test anxiety level by means of recruitment and interview,and randomly divided into three groups,among which 35 are ACT group,35 are REBT group and 35 are blank group.The ACT group was treated with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy,the REBT group with Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy,and the blank group without intervention.Data of empirical avoidance,cognitive fusion,test anxiety,academic self-efficacy and academic procrastination were collected before and after the three groups to test the intervention effects of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy.The results showed that:(1)The difference in test anxiety between the ACT group and the REBT group was significantly greater than that of the blank group,and the difference in the ACT group was significantly greater than that of the REBT group.(2)The difference of empirical avoidance and cognitive fusion in the ACT group was significantly greater than that in the REBT group and the blank group,and there was no significant difference between the REBT group and the blank group.(3)There was no significant difference in the academic self-efficacy of ACT group,REBT group and blank group,but the difference in the academic self-efficacy of ACT group was greater than that of REBT group and blank group.(4)There was no significant difference in the amount of academic procrastination in ACT group,REBT group and blank group,but the amount of difference in academic procrastination in REBT group was greater than that in ACT group and blank group.The following conclusions can be drawn from the research:(1)Test anxiety is common in college students,and there is a significant difference in the grade of test anxiety.(2)College students' academic self-efficacy and academic procrastination play a chain mediating role between college students' psychological flexibility and test anxiety.In other words,college students' psychological flexibility will influence their academic self-efficacy to a certain extent,thus affecting their academic procrastination and finally affecting their test anxiety level.(3)Acceptance and Commitment Therapy can significantly reduce the level of college students' test anxiety and significantly improve their psychological flexibility.Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy can also significantly reduce the level of college students' test anxiety.Both of the two group counseling interventions can improve college students' academic self-efficacy and reduce their academic procrastination to some extent.
