With the advent of the era of artificial intelligence, the country's demand for programming talents and innovative talents is growing. In Development Planning for a New Generation of Artificial Intelligence issued by the state council in 2017 and The key points of education informatization and cyber security work released by the ministry of education in 2019,both mentioned that courses related to artificial intelligence should be set up in primary and secondary schools, programming education should be gradually promoted, and computational thinking and innovation ability should be cultivated. At present, the process of programming education in primary and secondary schools is still in its infancy. There are still some problems in the traditional programming class, such as Students' learning style is not flexible,Low interes, the lack of computing thinking and cultivation of innovation ability, what`s more, they lack the opportunity to discover, solve and cooperate. As an emerging learning paradigm,design-based learning has the characteristics of "iteration","designability","integration" and "projectiveness".The author tries to introduce design learning into primary school programming class,so as to improve the existing programming teaching mode and construct the primary school programming teaching mode based on design-based learning by making use of the advantages of it According to the model, the author selects teaching topics and tools, designs teaching contents for teaching experiments, and uses the data collected from teaching experiments for effect verification and analysis.First, through the literature research method, the connotation of design-based learning, the current status of domestic and foreign research on programming education, relevant core concepts, and theoretical basis are summarized.Secondly, the author discusses the feasibility of combining design-based learning with programming education.By comparing the advantages and disadvantages of three typical design-based learning operation models, the author chooses "design-based scientific inquiry cycle model" as the basis for constructing the specific model. The author starts from the training of students' computational thinking ability, and combines the characteristics, needs and learner features of localized education to design and develop a primary school programming teaching model based on design-based learning. Then,on the basis of the teaching model constructed by the author, the teaching theme, tools, teaching content and so on are selected to carry out relevant teaching curriculum arrangement and teaching design. In addition, relevant pre-and post-test questions of computational thinking, classroom observation scale, evaluation table of programming works and interview outline were prepared to collect experimental data. Finally, the author conducted a one-semester teaching experiment in the "micro: bit programming" course in a primary school in chongqing, and collected students' classroom process data with the application of appeal preparation materials to evaluate the teaching effect.Paired sample T test was carried out on the results of pre-test and post-test of computational thinking. The author makes a comprehensive analysis and comparison based on classroom observation, programming work evaluation and student interview. The main findings are as follows:The primary school programming teaching mode based on design learning can effectively improve the students' computational thinking ability, which is more significant in algorithm design and evaluation dimension. And it is a long-term process to cultivate students' ability of problem abstraction and decomposition.Meanwhile, the mode improved the computational thinking ability of both male and female students, and the improvement of female students was greater than that of male students.
