As a supplement to mainstream education, extracurricular education has been booming in recent years.Family extracurricular education expenditures account for an increasing proportion of household consumption expenditures, and parental education expectations reflect the parents' subjective expectations of children's education, which affects family education investment and Another indicator factor for student achievement. However, whether the increase in extracurricular education expenditure is helpful to the improvement of students' achievements has been inconsistent.Based on this, the main research question of this article is whether the impact of parental education expectations on extracurricular education expenditures on student performance has a moderating effect. This paper uses CFPS2013-2014 data, using full sample regression analysis and adjustment effect and threshold effect test methods for empirical analysis, and draws the following five conclusions: 1.From the results of the one-stage OLS regression and adjustment effect test,we can see that for every 1000 yuan increase in education expenditure, students' test scores can be increased by 0.246 standard deviations.Parental education expectations have an adjusting effect on the path of student performance. At the same time,it has a positive effect on student performance and has a positive adjustment;2.From the perspective of student individual factors, family factors and school factors, the Larger, the fewer the number of children in the family, the higher the parental expectations, and for students in the city, the increase in extracurricular education expenditure, the better the effect of improving performance;3.The impact of parental education expectations on student performance has a threshold effect. The results of the threshold regression show that the closer the parental education expectations are to the master's degree and the doctor's degree, the lower the effect of improving the student's performance.Parental education expectations are lower than those of junior colleges and undergraduates, and the improvement of student performance is even greater. And when the parents' educational expectations are in the middle, that is,the children's educational expectations are not higher than that of junior colleges and undergraduates, the educational expectations have a greater regulatory effect on the impact of extracurricular education expenditures on student performance.4.The regional effect of extracurricular education expenditure on student performance is obvious.Compared with urban students, rural parents' educational expectations have a greater moderating effect on the impact of extracurricular education expenditure on student performance.5.The stage effect of extracurricular education expenditure on student performance is obvious.Compared with elementary school students, parental education expectations have a greater role in regulating extracurricular education expenditure on the improvement of student performance in junior high school.Based on the above research results,it is found that when families increase extracurricular education expenditures, students' performance will be improved, and parents' educational expectations will also have a regulatory effect on the input and output mechanisms of extracurricular education. At this stage, extracurricular education and public education still have a certain complementary effect.According to educational equity theory,at the stage of compulsory education, the government needs to adhere to the integrated governance of school education and extracurricular education system.According to the results of the threshold effect test, when parental education expectations exceed a certain level, that is,beyond junior colleges and undergraduates, the effect of family extracurricular education expenditure on the improvement of student performance is not so obvious, which shows that parents' high educational expectations will increase students' the psychological burden is not conducive to the improvement of children's academic performance.Parents should establish a reasonable education concept and appropriate educational expectations, and formulate a reasonable learning plan according to the students' own conditions;for rural areas and junior high school students, extracurricular the complementary effect of education and public education is more obvious.Government departments should start to improve the quality of school education at the junior high school level, and education needs accurate poverty alleviation.Educational resources are inclined to non-urban areas, reducing the gap between the quality of urban and rural compulsory education and allowing limited resources to get Excellent use.
