| Parents play an important role in the learning and growth process of students,and their educational participation is widely regarded as an important variable affecting their children’s growth and education,which has a significant impact on students’ academic performance.In recent years,parental participation has gradually become the focus of China’s education reform and a hot field of theoretical research.This study conducted a questionnaire survey on 4214 first year high school students from three non boarding schools in C County,Weifang City,Shandong Province.A total of 4069 valid questionnaires were collected,and the data was used to explore the relationship between parental participation,student educational expectations,and student academic performance.This study investigated the differences in demographic variables between parental participation and academic performance through Z test and One-way ANOVA.It was found that individual and family characteristics of students significantly affect parental participation and academic performance.Through correlation analysis and regression analysis,the impact of parental participation on students’ academic performance was explored.The study found that different dimensions of parental participation have different effects on academic performance.Family based parental participation shows an "inverted U-shaped" trend on academic performance,while school based parental participation behavior does not have an inverted U-shaped impact on academic performance.Through the mediator effect test and other methods,this paper explores the role of students’ educational expectations in the relationship between parents’ participation and academic performance.The results show that students’ educational expectations play a partial mediating role between parents’ participation and students’ academic performance.Based on the above research results,this study proposes the following recommendations.One is to change the concept of parental participation;Secondly,grasp the degree of parental participation;Thirdly,enhance students’ self-education expectations;Fourthly,strengthen school guidance for families. |
