Junior high school education is an indispensable and important stage in the process of human capital formation and accumulation. The education of junior high school students requires the participation of the school and the family.Based on the theories related to human capital formation, the impact of parental involvement on the academic performance of junior high school students was investigated by using the data from the 2014-2015 academic year of China Education Panel Survey(CEPS),descriptive statistical analysis,Propensity Score Matching and Quantile Regression. The results show that the differences in the academic performance of junior high school students are large; The average academic performance of girls is significantly higher than that of boys. The average academic performance of junior high school students with non-agricultural household is higher than that of junior high school students with agricultural household. Most parents are involved in the junior high education process;Girls' parents participate more in the interaction and supervision of homework at home and school, while boys' parents participate more in parent-child communication and parent-teacher communication. The level of parental participation of junior high school students with agricultural household is significantly lower than that of junior high school students with non-agricultural household. In general,parent-child communication and home-school interaction have positive effects on the academic performance of junior high school students, while supervision of homework and home-teacher communication have negative effects on the academic performance of junior high school students. For middle school students with different levels of academic performance, the effect of parental involvement is different.Gender studies show that parent-child communication has a greater positive impact on the academic performance of the girl than that of the boy.For the girl, the influence of home-school interaction decreases with the improvement of students' academic performance, while the influence of home-school interaction on boys doesnot change significantly. The negative influence of supervision on girls is greater than that on boys. The negative effect of teacher communication on boys was greater than that on girls, and the worse the academic performance was,the greater the negative effect was.According to the research of household type, the parent-child exchange has a greater impact on junior high school students with agricultural household than junior high school students with non-agricultural household. The influence of home-school interaction on non-agricultural junior high school students is greater than that of agricultural junior high school students. The negative effect of supervision on junior high school students with agricultural residence is greater than that of junior high school students with non-agricultural residence. The negative effect of teacher communication on non-agricultural junior high school students is slightly higher than that of agricultural junior high school students.Based on the above research results,it is suggested that parents strengthen parent-child communication with junior high school students, understand their worries and troubles, and timely help them solve various problems;Strengthen the effective interaction with the school, according to different characteristics adopt different methods, different home-school communication methods should be adopted for junior high school students with different characteristics;Change the way of supervision, let junior high school students develop a good habit of self-supervision and self-motivation;Improve the way parents communicate with teachers and give students more space.
