Geometric intuitive ability is one of the competencies that students need to foster in learning Math during the nine-year compulsory education in China,especially for students in junior high schools.Studies on geometric intuitive ability are receiving more attention from many teachers of Math as the concept of intuitive imagination is put forward.The majority of previous studies concentrate on the factors that influence the cultivation of students' geometric intuitive ability from the perspective of their performance in this regard and relevant teaching strategies are proposed.However,it is not possible that such suggestions are comprehensive and accurate as the teachers are the one who execute the strategies.What is more,the geometric ability is not only useful in learning Math,but also conducive to the understanding and explanation of questions.Therefore,this thesis,based on the status quo of fostering geometric intuitive ability and the test prior to senior high school entrance exam,aims to explore the common problems existing in the cultivation of geometric intuitive ability of students from junior high schools and relevant teaching strategies are raised.On the basis of questionnaires for teachers of Math from junior high schools and the test prior to the senior high entrance exam,the author summarizes eight common problems that exist in fostering the geometric intuitive ability of junior high school students.As for the above-mentioned problems,the author suggests that:(1)Building the bridge between algebra and geometry by helping students foster the habit of making a sketch,combing numbers with shapes,answering parameter-contained questions.(2)Bridging the gap between what is taught and what is tested;laying the foundation for intuitive ability by the utilization of education technology;fostering students' ability to think in a dynamic way.(3)Making use of the graphs and helping students get rid of the fixed mind-set so that they can discover useful information from the graphs.
