The Mathematics Curriculum Standard of Compulsory Education in 2022 lists "geometric intuition" as one of the nine core literacies at the junior high school level.Widely employed in junior high school mathematics, geometric intuition is the key to cultivating students’ full capabilities. The importance of examining the growth of junior high school students’ geometric acumen to secondary school mathematics instruction is thus immense. The focus of this thesis is geometric intuitive ability, and three queries are posed: How does seventh grade students’ geometric intuitive ability currently stand? What elements influence it? What are the teaching strategies for developing seventh graders’ geometric intuition? This thesis mainly adopts the literature research method, test survey method, statistical analysis method and interview method. After testing 240 students in four classes of seventh grade in a middle school in Heze City, the researcher employed SPSS software to analyze the data and assess the current state of seventh grade students’ geometric intuitive ability.Combining the results of interviews with students and teachers, the researcher then sought to identify the factors influencing this ability,as well as provide teaching suggestions for enhancing it.Through the research,it is found that: 1.In general, the geometric intuition ability of seventh grade students reached Level 1,i.e.,the analysis level.2.In general no noteworthy disparity in geometric intuitive ability between genders was observed.3.There was a strong correlation between students’ geometric intuitive ability and their academic performance in mathematics.Interviews were conducted to gain a deeper insight into how the profundity, agility, flexibility, and creativity of students’ thinking, the level of teachers’ comprehension of geometric intuition, and the efficacy of teachers’ teaching methods all influence students’ geometric intuition aptitude. This thesis proposes the following teaching suggestions, based on the above discoveries:improve the quality of mathematical thinking and develop geometric intuition;use information technology to enrich geometric cognition;penetrate the idea of combining numbers and shapes and use shapes to think about problems;pay attention to drawing to cultivate hands-on skills;make good use of life materials to cultivate students’ awareness of geometric intuition;optimize teaching activities to improve teachers’ geometric intuition.
