Of recent years,a great number of feminine-looking male have enjoyed a broad public acceptance and been largely portrayed and presented in media.The representation of men on television landscape and male images in social media both conveyed an increasing trend of femininity which not only reflected in semblance,mannerism and way of dressing but sometimes inner character as well.The traditional gender roles and binary concept of gender opposition have been shaken but with the rise of a feminine energy among the modern men.The feminine good-looking men draws a lot of attention from audience,meanwhile there is also an influx of interest in self-care and male grooming has become a growing market as well.The feminine man is in stark contrast to the traditional gender roles of masculinity associated with men,but exhibiting traits of both masculine and feminine qualities.This effeminacy of man brought a lot of attention to the public and also developed a phenomenon of male beauty consumption,by featuring feminine wonderful-looking young men on TV programs and targeting female consumers for the purpose of entertainment and commercial interests.The popularity of feminine man occurred in media is often explained as the result of the change in public aesthetic interest towards gender-role portrayals,especially with the establishment of women's subjectivity in aesthetic standards,and has reached new speeds through the wild drive of commercial interests.Meanwhile,in its penetration into public shared lexicon,the gender traits of femininity is fueling a new group of target audience dominated by millennial generation and influencing the preference in choosing stars and fashion icon in the media and entertainment industry.Besides,the male media images have also presented a richer,more diverse and personalized traits than ever before with the advent of the internet and media technology.The main focus of the research is to explore how the mass media has the potential to shape attitudes,self-perception and behavior,and how television viewing contributes to the maintenance as well as the learning of stereotyped gender roles among the public from the perspective of gender development theory.Also emphasizing a critical role that the audience has played in creation and selection of media content.Secondly,the research attempts to analyze the main causes of the presence of feminine man in media across the following areas: media culture,commercial interests and aesthetic standards.Finally,to learn how the feminine male images in media will reshape the modern man aesthetically and psychologically,also the implications of femininity in the development of gender identities.It is shown that the gender traits are understood more as social constructs than unwavering facts of people's lives,and gender is much more multifaceted than just being masculine and feminine.The occurrence of feminine male images in media provides insight into gender identities and helps the public build connections with other people and enforces self-understanding of gender perception,also contributes to dismantle the societal norms towards the antiquated notions of gender roles and uncover the rigid lines about stereotyped gender portrayals put up by the media.It is necessary to understand the importance of being comfortable with one's own gender traits and realize that the society has evolved and matured in a diverse and modern way.
