Textbook,as an important medium for teachers and students to participate in teaching activities,has always been a concern in the field of subject teaching research.The United States is a big country of culture and education.It is of great significance to study the content of history textbooks of Sinology.This paper focuses on Califormia high school"MODERN WORLD HISTORY",focusing on the layout and composition of its cultural content,in order to reflect from one side how American middle school history education plays a role in strengthening students' cultural awareness and improving cross-cultural communication ability.First of all,this paper analyzes the national history curriculum standard and California history curriculum standard.Through the analysis,it is found that the cultural content is one of the key themes of American middle school history textbooks,and it is at the top of the ten major themes of the curriculum standard,and it has different requirements for students in different stages,focusing on the cultivation of students'analytical and comprehensive abilities.Secondly,based on textbooks,this paper combs the composition and characteristics of cultural content in textbooks,and finds that cultural content plays an important role in California high school history textbooks.There is not only broad culture but also narrow culture in textbooks.For the study of textbook cultural content,the key is to sort out the content related to culture,and the cultural information expressed in it can be effectively transmitted to students.The expression of cultural content in textbooks is also flexible and diverse,not only with traditional words,but also with the help of illustrations,tables and other forms.However,as a textbook with multi-cultural content,there are some problems,such as European cultural centralism and the imbalance of cultural content.Finally,based on the California classroom,this paper focuses on the classroom teaching.In both domestic and foreign teaching activities,textbooks are "the most important basis for carrying out history teaching activities in middle schools".Through the in-depth study of the cultural contents in the history textbooks of La Canada high school in California,the author analyzes the main characteristics of the teaching methods of the cultural contents in the classroom,thus opening the way for the design of the cultural contents of the history textbooks in China.And from the perspective of classroom teaching,textbook writing,and cultivating students' humanistic quality,it provides some useful methods,so that Chinese textbooks can play an important role in inheriting excellent culture,improving citizens' cultural quality and strengthening national cohesion.Through the study and analysis of the cultural content in textbooks,the future teaching work can be more in-depth,more scientific and more targeted.
