The Relationship Between Chronotype And Time Perspective In Junior High School Students

The investigation of the specific mechanism affecting time perception will help researchers to develop more effective and feasible programs to prevent and intervene the occurrence of psychological problems and bad behaviors in adolescents.Studies in different foreign countries have confirmed that the chronotype is one of the factors affecting the time perspective of adolescents.However,the research on the mechanism of time perspective in China mainly focuses on the psychological factors,The effect of biological factors on time perspective has not been studied.Therefore,this study takes junior high school students in China as the research object to study the relationship between chronotype and time perspective,and intends to adopt an individual-centered research method.This study explored the predictive effect of chronotype on time perspective through Regression Mixture Modeling(RMM).Use Morningness–Eveningness Questionnaire(MEQ)and the revised Chinese insight Zimbardo Time Perspective Inventory(ZTPI)of 413 samples are measured in junior high school students,through the potential categories of Latent Profile Analysis(LPA)to explore the chronotype,and then add in gender and time perspective into two collaborators variables to consider gender role for the forecast of the chronotype and chronotype of time perspective.The results showed that(1)the revised Chinese Zimbardo Time Perspective Inventory had good reliability and validity;(2)Through latent profile analysis of the chronotype,it is found that there are two potential categories of chronotype: morning type(76%)and evening type(24%).The morning type has a positive prediction effect on future time perspective,while the evening type has a negative prediction effect on future time perspective.The evening type had a positive predictive effect on the past-negative time perspective,while the morning type had a negative predictive effect on the past-negative time perspective.
