With the development of social requirement and the popularization of higher education,the number of undergraduate and postgraduate students across the country has increased sharply.These students in different regions of the country have population flow behavior due to their study.However,even within China,cultural differences still exist between different regions.In the new culture and environment,the influence brought by collision and integration of regional cultures is particularly obvious in these students,which directly affects students' learning and life.In recent years,although scholars have carried out some researches on cross-cultural adaptation at home and abroad,most of them focus on foreign students,while researches on cross-cultural adaptation of domestic floating students need to be noticed.Based on Cultural Dimension Theory and Cultural Intelligence Theory,this thesis conducts a comparative analysis of the first culture shock and the second culture shock among domestic floating student groups,to answer the following four research questions:(1)Is the U curve model of culture shock applicable in the process of cross-cultural adaptation among domestic floating students?(2)From the perspective of cultural dimension theory,what are the factors that affect the culture shock of domestic floating students?(3)Is the U curve model of culture shock applicable to the second process of cross-cultural adaptation of the domestic floating students?(4)From the perspective of cultural intelligence,what are the reasons for the differences between the first and the second process of culture shock of domestic floating students?A questionnaire survey is conducted on 87 undergraduates and 73 postgraduates with floating experience within China in the age range of 19-23,and statistical analysis was made through SPSS.The research results show that the overall situation of cross-cultural adaptation of the domestic floating student group is good and their cultural intelligence is great as well.The whole process of culture shock and secondculture shock is in line with the U-shaped curve,but the mood fluctuates more gently.Cultural intelligence and cross-cultural adaptation are positively correlated with medium intensity.Compared with the first culture shock,the process of the second culture shock is gentler.In the analysis of the main factors affecting the cross-cultural adaptation of the domestic floating students,the academic factor shows the greatest power,followed by the life factor and interpersonal communication factor.Based on the research results above,the thesis puts forward domestic floating students' cross-cultural adaptation strategies from two levels: individual and social support.At the individual level of floating students,adequate preparation,open mind and improvement of cultural intelligence can enhance the ability of cross-cultural adaptation.At the level of social support,universities and senior high schools should pay more attention to the authenticity and accuracy of public information and ensure the information flow so that students can get effective information before their entrance.Universities should also strive to create a better environment for the cross-cultural adaptation for floating students from the aspects of strengthening cultural intelligence training and creating a stable but diversified campus environment.
