In the weather forecast work,weather radar is usually used to detect the precipitation system in the atmosphere,which can quickly and accurately provide the location,size,strength,internal structure and the evolution of the precipitation area around the monitoring station,and monitor the tornado,strong winds and other severe convective weather system,then makes the forecast.Now,the analysis of meteorological radar echo information mainly focuses on the two-dimensional plane,which can only reflect the echo distribution of a certain level.Generating the realistic three-dimensional echo information can contribute to analysis the process of complex weather and improve the understanding of the radar echo data for the meteorological workers.In this thesis,for the problem of inaccurate weather forecast,using texture mapping technology to achieve the mapping of two-dimensional echo image to radar cone model,and proposing an interpolation method based on the unit cube to establish three-dimensional data field according to its distribution characteristics and obvious stratification,and finally using volume rendering technology to realize 3D reconstruction of meteorological radar data.The main work includes:Firstly,analyzing the characteristics of meteorological radar data,and make a coordinate conversion and data correction.Due to the scan form of polar coordinates,the distribution of detected meteorological echo data is very uneven.In order to show the true meteorological echo image,using texture mapping technology to achieve the mapping of meteorological echo image to radar cone stereogram.Then,through the analysis of the characteristic of weather radar echo distribution on the cone,proposing an interpolation method based on the unit cube,which embedded the cone data in a predefined unit cube to establish three-dimensional data field.Finally,analyzing the application of surface rendering and volume rendering algorithms in three-dimensional reconstruction and use volume rendering algorithms to build three-dimensional reconstruction.The experimental result demonstrates that the three-dimensional echo based on volume rendering algorithms is not only showing the contours of clouds and their spatial distribution,but also the internal structure of meteorological radar echo,which can contribute to analyze the echo information,and provide reference for improving the accuracy of weather forecast.
