In this era,multimedia technology and network technology are growing more popular and developing rapidly,the traditional encryption technology has been unable to meet the needs.A new method is needed to solve the confidentiality of multimedia information.In this condition,information hiding technology emerged and became the research focus in current information security field.With the popularity of multimedia technology and the rapid development of the Internet,the expansion capacity of information hiding technology is growing much better.Secret information can be embedded in some digital media,such as the image,video,audio and so on,and be transmitted through the Internet.Information technology can not only embed secret information,but also protect the carrier from being suspected by attacker,and reach the purpose of transmitting safely.With the continuous development of information hiding technology,people began to focus not only on the secure transmission of secret information,but also on the lossless reduction of image carrier.In some sensitive areas,such as military,medical,the lossless reduction of image carrier has even important meanings and values.This thesis use reversible information hiding which is based on he scan order and the difference histogram shifting as its research content from the aspects of improving the embedding capacity while ensuring image quality.First,it introduces the background and significance of information hiding technology,the development of information hiding,the classification and feature of information hiding and simple explanations of its applications.Then introduces the principle and evaluation of reversible information hiding,focuses on analysis of several algorithm of reversible information hiding and the current research,and points out the research direction and applications of reversible information hiding algorithm.And next,if introduces the concept and classification of the histogram,describes the shape of the histogram and histogram applications,and focuses on the principle stage process of the histogram data hiding.This thesis comes up with a new reversible information hiding algorithm which is based on the scan sequence and difference histogram.This algorithm uses the feature about the small differences between adjacent pixels,and combines with a modified difference histogram algorithm.From three different scanning order,select the best scan order,and then modifies the difference histogram modifications basing on the best scan order.Finally,achieve the embedding and extracting of secret information.Compared with other algorithms,the embedding capacity and image quality in this thesis have been improved.And the algorithm of this thesis achieves a large-capacity and high-quality reversible informationhiding from the experimental results.
