With the explosive growth of reality TV programs in China, the state has promulgated a series of policies to control the content of programs. The social value and cultural significance of reality TV programs has become one of the important demands of TV producers. It is difficult to innovate in the mode of competition-based,fast-paced traditional variety shows. At the same time, with the acceleration of the life rhythm of the audience and the increase of life pressure, this new creative concept of slow variety is produced. The academic research mainly focuses on the reasons and dilemmas, the status quo and trend and the narrative strategy of the slow variety show. The academic community lacks a deeper and more systematic study of this program.Walter Lippmann's "Pseudo-environment" theory holds that slow variety shows are the mimetic information environment prompted by the media through the selection, processing and re-structuring of information. As the representative of the slow variety show,Back to Field presents a kind of rural living environment. The purpose of the program is also intended to appeal to people to return to pastoral life and respond to the new policy of "agriculture, countryside and farmers".Therefore, how to construct the pseudo rural human settlements and how to interpret and construct the simulated environment presented by the audience are the focus of this study. This paper takes Back to Field as the research object, and uses case study method, questionnaire survey method and in-depth interview method to analyze the process of constructing the pseudo-environment from the perspective of media and audience. The media uses the symbolic system structure of TV communication. The graph analyzes the pseudo rural human settlement environment constructed by the media. The audience uses Stuart Hall's audience interpretation mode to analyze the audience's interpretation of the program content, and then analyzes the audience's content construction from four aspects: sensory, emotion, thought and action. In the media aspect, through the analysis of the pseudo rural human settlements by using the linguistic and non-linguistic symbolic systems, this paper finds that the characteristics of the pseudo-environment constructed in Back to Field include: the presentation of pictures enriching the rural human settlements through colors, the establishment of the life keynote of the rural human settlements through rhythm, the guidance of the concept output of the rural human settlements through subtitles, and the communication between them. The natural ecology of rural human settlements is presented through space. In terms of audiences, most of the audiences have dominant hegemonic decoding and negotiation decoding positions. The degree of education, intergenerational stratification and real experience will affect their interpretation of program content.Through the analysis of the audience's senses, emotions, thoughts and actions,I sum up the five suggestions for the program: The beautification of the late stage of the program is consistent with the construction of realistic and beautiful countryside;Focus on the output of traditional cultural practices and the input of lifestyle;Subtitles focus on the rhythm to reduce the choice of behavior; The combination of ideological level guidance and practical behavior guidance;Multi-channel communication program concept to enhance the awareness of program content of different levels of audience. It is hoped to promote the unity of the dual subject construction of the media and the audience, enriching and appreciating the audience's perception of the rural environment.
