Competency is a set of identifiable behavioral skills and personal characteristics that distinguishes general performers from good performers in terms of knowledge,skills,motivations,traits,attitudes,and values.Competency model is the sum of the competency characteristics that can be qualified for a position.Taking the file manager who is engaged in archival work as the research object,based on the competency theory and the job responsibilities of the archive management position,a competency model for the archive manager can be constructed.First,build the model.Using the literature analysis method,job analysis method and behavioral event interview method to obtain the competency index,the word frequency of each index is counted,and finally 29 high-frequency competency features are retained.On this basis,the initial archivists competency model is constructed.Secondly,an empirical test of the model.Using the questionnaire survey method,29 competency indicators were used as the main content of the questionnaire,and 175 archivists were surveyed.Using the methods of importance analysis,factor analysis,reliability test and validity test,the data of the questionnaire results were analyzed,and the contents of each dimension index were modified and improved to obtain the final archivists competency model.The model is divided into 5 dimensions and 23 competency indicators.Among them,the knowledge and skill dimension is the basis for the development of archives management,which includes archival basic knowledge,archive management business knowledge,electronic document management knowledge,archive protection technology knowledge and other knowledge related to archive management work,and modern information technology application ability.And the content of the file management business skills;the organizational communication dimension serves as a bridge,which includes cooperation,communication,coordination and other aspects;the work attitude dimension is the premise of the file management work,which includes the sense of responsibility,security and confidentiality.Contents of dedication,service,rigor and seriousness;the dimension of thinking ability is the key to the management of archives.It includes innovation,strategic planning,logical thinking,political acumen,and decision-making ability.The dimension of personality is developed.At the core of the file management work,it includes content such as selfcontrol,integrity,time management,and achievement orientation.The archivists competency model has the characteristics of multidimensionality,specificity and practicability.The model can provide assistance for enterprises and institutions in the selection and hiring of archivists management personnel and staff training,and can also provide reference and reference for the training of archival professional talents in colleges and universities.
