Signal processing modules such as baseband processing unit(BBU)and distal RF module(RRU)and antenna module are seperated in conventional communication system architecture.Signal processing and antenna modules are connected by radio frequency cable, which leads to additional loss of signal transmission. This has become a major concern in the development of communication system. This dissertation deploys RRU and the antenna together, and BBU is seperated from the RRU and the antenna. The proposed scheme can effectively decrease the transmission distance between RRU and antenna, which can greatly reduce the system loss. However, communication between RRU module and BBU module has become a long range communication. It is therefore necessary to establish a reliable, high speed and stable long distance data transmission channel. The design is based on FPGA platform and optical fiber.Physical location of each module in the traditional communication system architecture is reconstructed, and a high-speed multi-machine real-time communication system between the RRU and BBU is accomplished. In order to reduce the signal loss and improve the performance, the design of multi-machine communication between RRU and BBU is completed.SPI interface is used between the MCU and FPGA,and MCBSP interface is used between DSP and FPGA.The multi-machine multi-channel real-time communication system is establised with a bandwidth of 2.5Gbps.A different design approach is proposed for the conventional communication system architecture.
