An Analysis Of The Errors In The Collating Edition Of "Tang Sanzang's Journey To The West"

The study of journey to the west has entered the golden age,with various versions and uneven quality.In addition,the disappearance of the original version of “Journey to the West”(the Ming Dynasty edition)has caused some troubles to the selection of editions in academic research and book sorting.In order to strengthen the scientificity and practicability of the study of “Journey to the West”,we should research on and sort out the chaos in the version of “Journey to the West”,and then collate and punctuate the relevant texts,and intensify the exploration of “Journey to the West” in Ming Dynasty.Scholars discuss and analyze the process of version comparison and historical evolution,but scholars rarely research the problems of collation and annotation of each edition of “Journey to the West”,especially that of Zhu Ding's version “Journey to the West”.Shidetang's “Journey to the West” is a symbol of the birth of a hundred times of “Journey to the West”,and Zhu Ding's version,as a simplified one of Shidetang's version,also plays an important role in the evolution of “Journey to the West”.Therefore,Zhu Ding's version is also a version widely concerned by scholars and of great research significance.The full name of “Zhu Ding's version” in the academic circle is “Tang Sanzang's Journey to the West”,edited by Zhu Dingchen in Ming Dynasty and published by Liu Yongmao(Liantai)during the wanli period.The collated edition of “the biography of sanzang's journey to the west” comes from “Tang Sanzang's Journey to the West · Journey to the West”(people's literature publishing house,1984),which is based on Zhu Ding's version and edited and collated by Chen Xin,and the collated edition was also a high-quality proofreading book included in the “Rarely Seen Novel Gallery Series of Ming and Qing Dynasty”.Due to the illegibility of the manuscript,the collated edition is presented in the form of a literary universal,and the non-standard emendation rules,therefore,mistakes in emendation and punctuation are inevitable.In order to improve the accuracy and readability of the school textbook,this article intends to classify and analyze more than 200 errors in the school textbook,such as collation,words and punctuation,in the Chen Xin collated edition of the“Tang Sanzang's Journey to the West”.This paper is divided into three parts:The first part is the introduction,including chapters 1 to 2.Chapter 1 covers the research background,research purpose and significance of this paper,as well as the current situation of the research and collation of the edition of “journey to the west”.Chapter 2 introduces the versions of “journey to the west” and their owners,and also briefly expounds the version relations of zhu Ding's version,Yang minzhai's version and shidetang's version.The second part is the main body of this paper,including chapters 3 to 5.Chapter 3analyzes the collation errors,including loss of collation,collation mistakes,collation failures.The fourth chapter analyzes the character errors,mainly including missing characters,redundant characters,false characters and so on.Chapter 5 distinguishes and analyzes the punctuation errors,including improper sentence breaks and punctuation errors.The third part is the analysis of the causes of school mistakes,including chapter 6.This paper mainly analyzes the causes of the errors in proofreading and punctuation,and puts forward relevant countermeasures.
