The Evolution Of American Accreditation Of Master's Programs In Library And Information Studies And Its Enlightenment And Its Influence

Certification is the evaluation of an educational institution or professional course that meets established standards through NGO evaluations and then grants permission to qualified units.The US government adopts indirect control of education certification,and the library and information science education certification system is part of the professional certification system.The quality of education in any library school certified by the American Library Association is widely recognized.The system provides a reference for students to choose schools and credit exchange systems,to ensure that library and information education is maintained at a certain level,and promote the discipline construction of library and information science and the development of library business.This study introduces the main contents of the seven standards of American Accreditation of Master's Programs in Library and Information Studies,which is summarized into four stages.The causes,characteristics and influences were analyzed,and compared with China's evaluation system,the enlightenment of library science education in China was obtained.The American Accreditation of Master's Programs in Library and Information Studies has established the independent status of library disciplines at the disciplinary level.On the academic level,it promotes interdisciplinary integration in the field of library and information science.On the social level,it responds to the diversity of the United States.China's library and information science education should provide abundant and high-quality talent support for library transformation,promote the application of new ideas,new methods and new tools in libraries,and promote the transformation of libraries to broader information institutions.
