Fibre Channel(FC)technology is a high-performance communication technology,which has been widely used in avionics and Storage Area Networks(SAN).Independent research on FC technology including FC transceivers,FC switches and FC networks will promote the development of FC technology in China.In this paper,the FC transceiver design,FC design and board design as system terminals are carried out in turn.Then,taking the application of video transmission between system terminals as an example,the hardware and software of the system are realized.Finally,the FC switching network system that can be configured through Ethernet is built.First,a brief introduction to the FC protocol is given,and a FC transceiver based on Xilinx Kintex-7 FPGA is designed according to the requirements of the FC protocol.The FC transceiver has the characteristics of low delay and low resource consumption,and can be easily combined with other functional modules to realize a device with a FC interface based on an FPGA board.After that,the key technology of the switch is introduced,and a 4-port FC switch based on Xilinx Kintex-7 FPGA is designed,combining with the self-designed FC transceiver.The FC switch adopts CICQ(Combined Input-Crosspoint Queued)structure and LQD_RR(Longest Queue Detecting and Round Robin)scheduling algorithm,and VOQ(Virtual Output Queue)as well as Frame Fragment and Recombination Technology are also used to achieve fine performance.Finally,a FC switching network system that can be configured by Ethernet is built,combining the self-designed FC transceiver and FC switch.The system uses both Ethernet and FC networks,of which Ethernet is used for transmission of control information between the host computer and the terminals,and FC network is used for high-speed transmission of large amounts of data between terminals.The system consists of a host computer,an Ethernet router,a FC switch and several terminals.Based on the self-designed board with Xilinx XC7Z035 chip as the core,taking the video transmission application between terminals as an example,the terminal hardware implementation and software design are carried out.The terminal can complete operations such as soft reset of the data path,configuration of the FC network link,start or pause video transmission,and start or pause video reception according to the host computer command received from the Ethernet.
