The Study On The Feature Of The Innobation Network Of Bio-medicine Industry Guangzhou With The Perspective Of Multidimensional Proximities

The 21 st century is an era of both knowledge and information,and also of innovation.High-tech industry is becoming the powerful auxiliary booster for regional economic development and has become one of the most important factors that affect the comprehensive strength of nations.Serving as a typical representation,the bio-medicine industry has been regarded as an important method to facilitate regional economic development and improve innovation ability.Innovation network can provide flow resources such as knowledge,information and manpower for industrial development,and facilitate innovation performance.The research on innovation network has become the central point in the field of economic geography.Formerly,geography pays more attention to the effect of geographic distance on innovation network.Along with the development of cultural institutions,multidimensional proximities have been a new perspective for the research of innovation network.It has become a new trend to study the innovation network using multidimensional proximities.In the other word,instead of using one single geography dimensionality,we can use different perspectives including organization and perception,to analyze the innovation relationship.The paper takes the bio-medicine industry in Guangzhou as example,considering the following two issues.First,based on the perception of multidimensional proximities,we explore the innovation cooperation and relationship between innovation entities,and further propose a theoretical analysis framework for innovation network based on geography,organization and cognition proximity.Second,we investigate the characteristics,structures and changes of innovation network on the bio-medicine industry,which can reveal the effect and influence of multidimensional proximities on the networking of innovation network.Furthermore,it can also enrich the research contents of geography,and provide theoretical references for the development of the bio-medicine industry.The paper can be divided into three main sections,i.e.,related work analysis,theory research construction and empirical analysis.In the section of related work analysis,we first define the concepts of innovation network and multidimensional proximities,and comb the related works in China and abroad.By means of comprehensive analysis,we conclude that innovation network is the dominating research direction for innovation,and multidimensional proximities is a new perspective for network research.Existing works analyze the innovation performance mainly based on the perspective of knowledge spreading and flow.However,these works hardly delve deeply into functional mechanism of knowledge innovation entity and innovation relationship.In the section of theory research analysis,according to different perspectives of multidimensional proximities,we divide it into three categories,i.e.,geographical proximity,organization proximity and cognition proximity,and further construct an explicitly-defined and formal multidimensional proximities concept framework.It can be utilized to analyze the effect of multidimensional proximities on research and development networking of bio-medicine innovation network,from the perspective of research and development innovation cooperation.Specifically,we delve deep into the innovation from three aspects in the following.First,following the thread of “innovation entity-innovation relationship-innovation network”,we analyze the geography,organization and cognition properties of core network entities(i.e.,pharmaceutical enterprise,biotech enterprise,and scientific research institution in the university).Second,we explore the proximity effect of geography,organization,and cognition between different innovation entities.Third,we analyze the structures and change characteristics under different spatial scales.In the section of empirical analysis,on the basic of combing the development survey of the bio-medicine industry of Guangzhou in China and abroad,we mainly address the following three issues.First,we construct the core network,auxiliary network and support network models for innovation of the bio-medicine industry in Guangzhou.Second,we explore the relationship of three important behavioral entities in core network(i.e.,pharmaceutical enterprise,biotech enterprise,and scientific research institution in the university).Third,we reveal the effect of multidimensional proximities on the networking of innovation network.Furthermore,based on the thesis cooperation,patent cooperation and field survey data,we utilize social network analysis methods,to investigate the innovation entities,innovation relationship and network structural characteristics of the bio-medicine industry in Guangzhou and case area,under the actions of geography,organization and cognition proximity.
